On the 16th of December, the University of Ruse celebrated the 10th anniversary of OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY in Bulgaria. The bachelor programme opened by the university was the first and still is the only one in the country. The official ceremony was attended by representatives of the local authorities, academic management and staff, social services, former and present students. Special guest of the event was Haneke van Bruggen, former executive director of the European Network of Occupational Therapy in Higher Education, who has a significant contribution to the development of the education and the profession in Bulgaria. The main challenges and achievements during the 10-year period were demonstrated in a movie.

There are already 93 graduates in the country. Hanneke van Bruggen presented her future vision of the profession and appreciated the work done by the Bulgarian team. Particular gratitude was expressed to partners in fieldwork education, teachers in the programme, as well as to all former and present students for their trust and courage to venture on an unknown profession. Those, who had the most significant contribution to the development, were acknowledged with a special award – crystal plaque. The university received many congratulations from local authorities, partners from the country and abroad. Elitsa Velikova, member of the Executive Committee, as well as a faculty member, presented the official letter from the President of COTEC.
